NASHUA, N.H., April 2, 2026 Nashua Ambulatory Surgical Center (NASC) has successfully performed its first outpatient Direct Anterior Total Hip Replacement, marking a major advancement in orthopedic care for patients in the Nashua region.

The procedure was performed by Andrew Garber, MD, in collaboration with New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center (NHOC), bringing a modern, muscle-sparing hip replacement technique into the outpatient setting for appropriately selected patients.

The direct anterior approach allows surgeons to access the hip joint from the front of the body, minimizing disruption to surrounding muscles. Combined with an outpatient surgical model, this approach supports reduced postoperative pain, faster early mobility, and same-day discharge.
