Dennis Ness' book "The Militia of the County York" is an informative tale detailing the issues of leading up to the founding of a state supported militia in York County

DALLASTOWN, Pa., Oct. 18, 2021 Dennis Ness, a resident of York County and a proud grandpa, has completed his new book "The Militia of the County York": an informative tale of the establishment of militia in York County.

Ness writes of the difficulty in militia establishment, "York County was no different. The largest population were Germans, who opposed to bearing arms against anyone, who joined with the Quaker leadership, who supported their religious beliefs. Several other ethnic groups were willing to bear arms to defend their homeland against foreign intervention. That combination of differences started the discord that was an issue for the years leading up to the revolution and continued through to the end of the war."

Published by Page Publishing, Dennis Ness' compelling tale begins with an incident in Delaware that began the movement to secure military organizations that would defend Philadelphia. To establish a militia in a state dominated by Quakers was a difficult, but this tale explains how it was done.
